Aimee and Dan Backyard Wedding

Feb 12, 2019

Last Summer, we had such a blast being the wedding photographers for Aimee and Dan’s amazing backyard wedding in Riverwoods, IL. This wedding literally made us feel like we were back at summer camp again. From the wood plank signs to the lush, green trees, everything was so perfect!

A Relaxing Backyard Wedding in Riverwoods, IL

When Aimee booked This Is Feeling Photography, she was very specific about how much she loved our style and approach. What was even more touching was her personal connection to photography. Her parents had a family photographer friend she remembers coming to her house all the time growing up. She and her family always excitedly anticipated playing around at family get-togethers because of the photographer. Aimee wanted that same kind of spirit to shine through in her wedding photographs. She made this easy for us. Her genuine love for her friends, family and of course, her fiancé, Dan, simply oozed out of her all day. It was incredibly easy for us to capture ‘all the feels.’

The name of the game with Aimee and Dan’s wedding was genuineness. There was nothing frilly or fancy about their wedding and that’s exactly how they wanted it! They had a few green centerpieces, some simple flowers, a white tent and to top it all off, the wedding was held in Aimee’s parent’s very own backyard! Aimee and Dan wanted the day to be really chill. They even had us come a few hours before the ceremony JUST to capture the laid-back vibe of the morning, and the anticipation building up to the wedding ceremony!  One of Aimee’s main goals for the wedding photos was to see her guests and their reactions and emotions throughout the entire day. So, we knew we had to put some extra love and attention towards photographing their wonderful guests as well.

When it came time for the actual wedding ceremony, Aimee absolutely overflowed with emotion as she walked down the aisle towards Dan, which you can really see in the photo of her being escorted by her father during the ceremony. It was really sweet. What we loved about their wedding was that the spirit of love just flowed through the people the whole time. And the sentiment of having their wedding at her parent’s house was beautiful! It made the entire occasion incredibly relaxing, intimate and just all-around spectacular to be a part of behind the lens.

We loved every precious moment we caught on camera at Aimee and Dan’s incredibly relaxing backyard wedding. We had such a fantastic time with these two and we wish them all the best in they’re going to make together!
